The ask was as far from simple as it gets: could we somehow create a single International Anthem encompassing pieces of various national anthems that would be present at the 2016 Rio Olympics? Employing a vast roster of composers around the world, a team of musicologists, and a legal team tasked with understanding each country’s national anthem use abilities, we set out to make one anthem the entire world could sing.
